Muonionalusta - Carlos Vela-Prado

This photograph is of a found asteroid from my time spent in Sweden. The structure of the metal is formed by the high heat and speed of travel through the atmosphere. It has been sanded and shaped to the dimensions of an American penny. Muonionalusta is known as the oldest known type of meteorite to have landed on earth. Taking it back with me to the United States I proposed to echo the Scandinavian immigration to the United States in the 19th Century. I wanted to domesticate and Americanize this object.
